Muniya Khanna

About

Muniya Khanna attended Temple from 1998 to 2004 and earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts. She is now a licensed clinical psychologist, focused on the treatment of anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) in children, as well as tic disorders and trichotillomania.

During her time at Temple, she worked with Philip Kendall to study child and adolescent clinical psychology, and anxiety disorders and their treatment. The impact of her work has extended far beyond campus—providing some of the most important research and web-based resources in the field of child anxiety in the last 15 years.

In partnership with Philip Kendall, Khanna developed and tested Camp Cope-A-Lot, one of the first computer-assisted treatment programs for anxious youth, and CBT4CBT, a computer-based training program for clinicians interested in becoming proficient in cognitive-behavior treatment of childhood anxiety.

Most recently, Kendall and Khanna developed Child Anxiety Tales, an online parent-training program for parents of children with anxiety, as well as CopingCatParents.com, a free informational website for parents and professionals who work with youth and their families.

Khanna is also the founder and clinical director of the OCD & Anxiety Institute and research scientist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which is dedicated to the study and treatment of anxiety and OCD in individuals of all ages. She has also been active in various Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies committees.
